巻１・２は蝦夷地の風俗・制度・産物等を記した見聞録。巻２末に蝦夷詞一覧と松前氏系図（邦広まで）あり。巻３～４は「しやむしやいんが一揆」の顛末を記した実録。漢字かな交じり。巻末にアイヌ風俗を描いた絵図集あり。
