櫧子、此有三種、一種曰石櫧、其樹高大、葉似栗葉■小、両旁無刺面光而背微帯黄色有毛、子房生有■秋冬間房鏬而子出、亦似栗子差形円而尖、土人採之以充菓品、一種曰苦櫧樹、極有高大者、其葉亦似栗葉而尤小、両旁微有刺背面皆光沢、其木甚堅而重、土人取斵為柱礎以代石、経久不腐、白■亦不之食、江西人構大廈多用以為棟梁、其子亦房生有刺、形似石櫧子而小味苦、土人呼為苦櫧、以蒸熟料理作糕亦可食、又其嫩葉及皮味皆苦、土人取攦乾煮水以代茗飲、謂其性凉可解熱也、一種曰甜櫧樹、亦高大、葉似槐葉尖長而硬厚、木理甚直可破、為椽不堪作器皿、其子亦房生微有刺、形如苦櫧而尤小、其味甜可食、土人亦或以充果品、磨之而煮為凍尤佳、【邵武府志 八】/櫧(カシ)〈肥後国各郡〉【日本地誌提要 七】、櫧(カシ)〈琉球国〉【日本地誌提要 七】、櫧(カシ)材〈州南諸島各島〉【日本地誌提要 七】
